...and because I didn't want to go back to working so soon after getting home, I present to you a quizzy thing (in the extended entry).
TEN random things you might not know about me.
1. I'm left-handed. (Some of you know this, but some of you may not.)
2. I only tolerate tomatoes and raisins under specific circumstances (and they're different for tomatoes versus raisins).
3. I stopped watching television (on a regular basis) a little over ten years ago.
4. I decided I wanted to be a neuroscientist about nine and a half years ago.
5. I've liked Kandinsky since I was a small child. I had (still have, really) a book of about two dozen Kandinsky paintings with a little introduction about him, but, before I could/bothered to read anything that complex, I thought Kandinsky was just the title of the book.
6. Pink was one of my favorite colors in third grade.
7. I am sufficiently fond of ginger to use gingermint toothpaste.
8. I'm really bad at coming up with creative names.
9. I hate fruit flies.
10. I didn't learn to ride a bike until the end of ninth grade.
NINE places I’ve visited
1. Hawaii (mostly Honolulu and surrounds)
2. Toronto
3. Montreal
4. London
5. Edinburgh
6. Seattle
7. San Francisco
8. Boston
9. Maine (various bits)
EIGHT ways to win my heart
1. Express interest in my work (especially if you're not a scientist) or my knitting (especially if you're not a knitter).
2. Like me for being myself.
3. Dance with me (sorry, only works if you're at least passable at dancing).
4. Wash dishes for/with me.
5. Cook with me (or at least talk to me while I cook).
6. Let me drive a car that doesn't have to be returned at a set time.
7. Make beautiful things for me.
8. Make friends with my cat.
SEVEN things I want to do before I die
1. Publish a first-author paper (okay, several to dozens, but still).
2. Graduate.
3. Knit a few sweaters that I wear a lot.
4. Knit a lace shawl from my handspun.
5. Spend at least a month living in a different time zone.
6. Own my home.
7. Travel the world.
SIX things I’m afraid of
1. Public speaking. (Less than I used to be, though. By a lot.)
2. Something (bad and serious) happening to my parents.
3. Having to eventually find a job.
4. Dying alone.
5. Having something that I overlooked cause something catastrophic.
6. Having something catastrophic (probably not caused by me--these are totally separate worries) happen to my lab notebooks right before I finish grad school.
FIVE things I don't like
1. Uncomfortable clothing.
2. Oatmeal.
3. Being awoken at 5am, even by an adorable kitten.
4. Getting drenched on my way to work.
5. Loud noise.
FOUR ways to turn me off
1. Be untrustworthy.
2. Consistently misuse words and punctuation. (Sorry, but it's true. It doesn't apply to friends, though.)
3. Be mean.
4. Be overly chivalrous.
THREE Things I do every day
1. Sing to myself.
2. Think about knitting or spinning.
3. Make mental to-do lists. (Sometimes they even get written down.)
TWO things that make me happy
1: Purring cats.
2: My plants having (non-green) flowers.
ONE thing on my mind right now
1: The really big presentation I'm giving tomorrow.
(If you don't read her blog and were wondering who'd tagged the whole internet with this, it was Crazy Aunt Purl.)
I love gingermint toothpaste! I wish Trader Joe's still carried it, but I guess Whole Foods will do. :)
